Playing Windows Media Videos on Your MacBook

Tutorial Audience: All POWER Zone Schools

Not all video formats are the same and you may have noticed that some Windows formats will not play on your MacBook.  Apple does not support Windows Media (.wmv or .asf) files without a third party video utility installed on your MacBook.

If you downloaded videos from Discovery Education, chances are this is the format the videos were saved in and they will not play on your MacBook.

You need to download and install a utility called Flip4Mac.  From this webpage, click Download Now under the free version.

Follow the installation steps and once it’s finished you should be able to play .wmv and .asf videos on your Mac using QuickTime Player.
